Thank you for checking out Catharsis. This is where my photography cuts loose. Most of the work here is self portraiture, and manipulated to varying degrees. My apologies for the garish color theme, but an online survey told me my web page should be red...

I learned at an early age to form my thoughts as pictures, or maybe, I learned to just keep them that way; I am a visual thinker. Eye candy was everywhere; magazines, color comic strips on Sunday, and Saturday morning cartoons. Boy's life Magazine, Ranger Rick, even Highlights - those kid's books in the doctors waiting room with the keen little hide-a-way puzzles, billboards; all these icons formed what would later be known as 'brand recognition', but more importantly these icons gave me a disire to participate in the cacophany of visual stimuli that affected me so.

I like to create images. No, I need to create images. Photography is therapy for me. Photography, in a way, is my friend. I made these photographs to deal with life. They are my reactions to situations or environments; my way to vent when everything between screaming and silence are not enough. They are personal snapshots, so that I can remember a place, person or circumstance (Photography is my notepad). Photography is also expression for me. Creating images lets me talk in a way that I cannot comnunicate using words, since my mind works in images, it is ideal in this aspect (thanks again to Sesame Street!). Be it an emotion, political statement, or even an expression of sexuality (sometimes all three!) - the 'image' works much better for me than words. And another by product of my image driven youth is substance, or lack thereof in many images. Subsequently, there are times when I have no idea why in the world I make a particular photo, the intent only becomes obvious to me after a long review of the image. The images, and the process of building them, help me to learn about myself, as well as the outside world.

In October 2005, I self published my first book, titled “GRIT”. This is via a print on demand service on Cafepress.com. It's really a gritty anthology of my first six year behind the lens. It's raw, rough around the edges, black and white, and very honest. When finances allow, I will most likely produce a smaller follow up book or monograph, and the next one will be full color.

For the future, I plan to push of my work into the public eye as much as possible. I do sell prints and am available for commission work.

for more of my mainstream or contemporary work, check the "Site Home" link, it will take you to my main page where landscapes, urban, and other subjects are displayed.

The work on this site is highly expressive, and deals with subject matter of a mature nature, so expect rather graphic representations of themes as well as nudity. You've been warned.

Thank you for looking!
